9TH ANNUAL REUNION ST. PETERSBURG, FL
OCTOBER 2004

I suppose you all are wondering why there are pictures of Saint Petersburg, FA, rather than another picture of Palm Springs, CA?

Due to circumstances beyond our control it has been decided that since the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines won't to be at
Camp Pendleton, as well as the 2d and 3d Battalion, due to the current situation in Iraq we will hold California open until 2005. Visiting with the 1st Battalion was to be one of the main tours that were in the planning for our reunion. Further, there is one other situation that has been brought to our attention but we would rather not put this in print.

We have ask the Burkhart family, "Doc", Vicky, George, and David if they would host our 9th annual reunion in 2004 instead of 2005, which they accepted and I know that they will show us a grand time.

At our annual meeting in we will take another look at our 10th annual reunion somewhere in California, with Bob and Mickey Licker being our Chairpersons if they are still willing to volunteer?

I am sorry I don't have any firm information on our 2004 annual reunion but as of this date (13 January) we still don't have a contract for the hotel or actual dates of the reunion. "Doc" and George have been trying to select a hotel and a date but due to the short notice and the holiday season it has been a problem yet to be resolved. I am sure that the Burkhart's will have everything on schedule by the time I send out the April news-letter. I do have some information to share with you concerning transportation to St. Petersburg, FL, which follows:

Transportation: Interstate 75 leads from points both north and south in Florida to the Tampa Bay area. From Orlando, I-4 connects in Tampa with I-275 southbound to St. Petersburg.

Tampa International Airport is only 30 minutes from St. Petersburg and the beaches. It is served by all major airlines.

St. Petersburg /Clearwater International Airport provides additional passenger service and Albert Whitted Airport in down-town St. Petersburg is a base for private aviation.

Check the website for info:
WWW.FLY2PIE.COM for St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport

Amtrak
offers passenger train service into Tampa, with bus connections to St. Petersburg, and the Greyhound bus system also links us to many northern cities. St. Petersburg is also served by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, which provides public transportation throughout the entire county, including the beaches.

NOTE: There are just to many errors on our personnel roster because I don't receive up to date info! Please send me any changes so I can update it. Thanks "Shifty"
