ULTIMATE DISGUST
On the day the company was scheduled to jump off toward Sudong and points north I was assigned as guide to locate the trucks, which would take the company the initial 15 or 20 miles. It was quite cool and dark being about 5:00 AM this late October morning. I located the trucks then joined other guides and drivers around one of the numerous small fires that had been lit. There were probably 6 to 8 guys huddled around the group I joined. One individual was being quite vocal about his feeling relative to the war, the Corps and everything else. He wrapped up his tirade with the statement that when I get out the @&%A*$# outfit I am never going to join another thing. Then a quiet, soft-spoken voice spoke up and said how about the church son that is a pretty peaceful organization. Just then the fire flared a bit so you could just make out the Chaplains cross on the speakers field jacket label. The young man immediately shot back "Just my #$%"#@ luck I will join and they will start a crusade"! Man I thought this guy is really disgusted. /s/ Mac" I received this story from Charles W. Mc Kellar - Hqtrs Armor 9/50 - 5/51 Thanks for sharing your story with us. This is the very kind of stories that I would like for you Marines to send me for our newsletter. Semper Fi! "Shifty" |

"Shifty" FROM MY DESK: I received this email from Mac McKellar requesting our assistance in his job working with the 1stBn Web Page. "Hi Shifty Hope this gets through. Am in the process of moving the pictures off of the Yahoo Bulletin Board to the Web site itself. Have the 2001 reunion pictures ready and I remembered I had a CD of pictures from Branson so have that ready also. Would very much like to get pictures from the Toledo Ohio, Fort Myers, Florida and Houston Texas Reunions. Wonder if you could put something in your next newsletter to that effect. Pictures may be sent to me via Email (cwfm1928@earthlink.net) or sent on a CD or the pictures themselves to me at 42 Aztec Circle Fort Myers beach, FL 33931. Naturally all pictures mailed to me will be returned once I have scanned them. Thanks Mac" Received this email from Sgt Major Jim Skinner |
