GUEST SPEAKER - 7TH ANNUAL REUNION -CWO-4 TOAN N. HUYNH USMC

Gunner HUYNH pronounced (WHEN) is currently the Marine Corps Liaison Officer, Personnel Management Support Branch, (Records Center), St. Louis, MO.

Born on 17 April 1960 in Bien Hoa, South Viet Nam, he arrived in the U.S. 13 August 1975, was housed at MCB, Camp Pendleton, CA as a Vietnamese refugee (known as the Boat People).

He married the former Sally German of Huntersville, PA in June of 1986. They have four children: Rebecca (14), Nathaniel (13), Benjamin (11), and Joshua (8).

He joined the Corps on 5 June 1980 and was released in July 1984. Joined the Marine Corps Reserve Unit in Raleigh, NC and in August 1986 returned to active duty. He was selected and promoted to Warrant Officer 1 in October 1990. He was promoted to CWO-4 in December 2000.

The Gunner was asked to be our guest speaker because of his position at the Records Center. He can give us a first hand insight as to what we need to know and can expect from the staff at this installation. All of our military records are stored there and these records are most important to us veterans when applying for benefits from time to time.

Gabe, Virginia and I know you will be interested in and appreciate what the Gunner will have to say to us at our Banquet.

MESSAGE FROM "SHIFTY"
As of June 136 warriors have paid
their dues for 2002, but there are still 4l that have not paid their dues for 2001. All of 1999 and 2000 dues have been paid. It is very important that dues be paid so the Association has funds for administration supplies, printing and mailing the quarterly newsletter to our membership.

The Association has voted that if dues are not paid and are in the arrears for more than two years they will no longer be entitled to the quarterly newsletter and annual membership roster. Please think about it and send in your 2001 dues to me.

Many of our warriors have given generously to the "Discretionary Fund" and I want to thank everyone that has felt that this program is necessary for our Association.

Gifts in remembrance have been made for John (Jack) Nichols III and William (Bill) Blasko. I have received letters thanking A/1/7 Marine Corps Association for our kind thoughts in Honor of these fallen warriors.

I have sent many get well and sympathy cards to families of our Association as I learned of illnesses or deaths. If you know or hear of someone that should receive a card please don't hesitate to let me know. For Example, we gained a former member because one of our members felt obligated to inform me that a warrior's spouse had passed away. I sent him a letter expressing our sorrow for the loss of a loved one and he wrote me a nice letter, paid his dues for 2002 and is an active member again.

HOSPITAL CORPSMAN

Wherever you find the Navy, wherever you find the Marine Corps, there you will find the Navy Hospital Corpsman. In times of peace, he or she toils, day and night, providing quality care to numerous beneficiaries. In times of war, he is on beaches with the Marines, employed in amphibious operations, in transportation of wounded by air, on the battlefield, and on all types of ships, submarines, aircraft carriers, and landing craft. In short wherever medical services may be required the Hospital Corpsman is there, not only willing, but prepared to serve his or her country and his fellow man above and beyond the call of duty."
