While at the reunion one of our members that wasn't active gave me his dues for the year 2001 and has become an active member again. I want to thank him for rejoining our A/1/7 Marine Corps Association again and I won't mention his name for personal reasons. Welcome back aboard Marine!

Darlene and I had the pleasure of dining with Col. J. T. Rooney and his son Greg at the BBQ cookout while we were attending the 1st Bn Reunion at Hilton Head Island. Col. Rooney was CO of the 1stBn from 26 April - 22 August 1951. He is 86 years of age and is a very squared Marine! It was an honor meeting him again after all these many years since our tour of duty with the 1st Bn 7th Marines. His son Greg was a Major in the Corps who flew F-8s I believe? The Colonel's address is:
Col. John T. Rooney USMC (Ret)

Los Alamitos, CA 90720
