At the Welcoming BBQ we were served our meal by the hotel staff. A Color Guard detail from the U.S. Grant High School ROTC presented the colors. Norman Lamb of the Veterans Affairs office of the State of Oklahoma spoke to the group and presented a Proclamation from Governor Brad Henry declaring October 1-5, 2003, "A-1-7 Marine Corps Recognition Week." This was received with a warm round of applause!

Colonel Gary Lumpkin USMCR (Ret) addressed the group as keynote speaker.

Dr. Kyung-Whan Min of the Korean Society of Oklahoma City was introduced. He spoke briefly about his life in Korea during the war and his new life in the U.S. His lovely bride YO was introduced.

At the Banquet Colors were presented by the staff of the local I-I, with Hospital Corpsman 2d Class Julia Chavez U.S. Navy, singing the National Anthem.

Muley Mulhausen, Jerry Schutz and I presented laying of the wreath in memory of our fallen warriors. Taps was played by Henry Arnett, former veteran of the U. S. Army, with "Amazing Grace" with
bagpipe music in the background attended by Dave Jepson.

Three Korean young ladies did an original Korea Dance in their native costume. Dr. and Mrs. Min were their sponsors.

Bill Hudson introduced Federal Judge Lee West, a former Marine, who spoke concerning current events in our country and abroad. Further, he elaborated on the failure of our government in "short changing" our Armed Forces and especially the Veterans!

He was very witty and a colorful speaker. His lovely bride Joann was in attendance.

Muley and is crew did a superb job showing us his city. The tours, hotel and rooms were excellent. We couldn't have asked anymore from the staff of the hotel, which showed us a grand time. Kudos to you Muley and your staff!

WESTERN HERITAGE AND COWBOY HALL OF FAME TOUR:

This tour was one of the highlights for the reunion. It was one of the Most interesting tours that I have been on in a long time. The only problem was that we could have spent the whole day there and then would not have seen everything that was to be seen.

We had lunch at the Persimmon Hill Restaurant located in the Cowboy Hall of Fame and found it to be an excellent meal. I heard many comments from our Marines and guests praising the food there and how much they enjoyed this tour!
