STABLE ABLE 1-7 NEWSLETTER
October 2004
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA IN 2005

Now that the 9th Annual Reunion is over and all of the attendees have returned to their homes we want everyone to know that all had a grand time. We didn't even experience any hurricanes while we visited St Petersburg. Although the folks in Florida have had their fair share thus far and with at least two more months to go in the season.

The 10th Annual Reunion will be our days next year and the dates are Wednesday the 5th of October through Saturday the 8th. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Bayside in San Diego, California. Bob and Mickey Licker will be the hosts. They have lots planned for our reunion and more will be published in the January 2005 newsletter.

There is much to see and do in San Diego so make plans to come and stay awhile. The hotel is offering 3 days before and after the reunion at our reunion rate.

TOUR TO BUSCH GARDENS

25 Marines and guests toured the Busch Gardens in Tampa on Monday the 4th. There was just so much to see and do that it was impossible to see everything due to the limited number of hours that we spent there.

Our guest speaker was the Very Reverend Russell L. Johnson, a graduate of the Naval Academy. He chose the Marine Corps for his active duty service and is veteran of Vietnam. Was a PltLdr in a Recon Company, also a Company Commander. He made 28 deep patrols. He was WIA and later he applied for and was selected as an Air Observer. After some years he earned his wings as a Jet Pilot and flew a Harrier Jet. Then his life changed as he had a calling to become a minister. He is the Dean of the Episcopal Diocese in St. Petersburg. He talk with us was most interesting about his 12 years in the Marine Corps and about his ministry.
